Bellswood Housing Development

GRO-DESIGNS were appointed by our long-term clients at Barton Group to design and deliver this unique and challenging project in Herfordshire, UK: The Bellswood Residential Park Design. The site, is a designated “Scheduled Ancient Woodland” which had been neglected to a state of near ruin by the previous owners. To this end, our landscape and woodland strategy for the scheme would need to perfect as the development serves to become a crucial part of the woodlands survival as the client becomes the custodian of this stunning location.

Residential Park Design

Working with our Arboricultural Consultants, GRO were able to identify suitable locations within the woodland setting where lodges could be sited. Guided by Arboricultural data, method statements and woodland management plans, the site went through some much needed enhancement to create a truly unique, high quality development.

Our client has embraced the concept of becoming the custodian of the woodland and has appointed GRO to coordinate and lead the design proposals.

The project embodies GRO’s core values of embracing opportunities to create sustainable residential developments. We promote investment in new technologies to combat climate change and surpass government targets for reducing carbon footprints. By prioritising quality environments, we enhance the user experience and add value to the development.

Sustainability

In our commitment to sustainability, we prioritize environmentally friendly practices in our construction processes. To protect tree roots, we employ no dig solutions like Cellweb engineered components underneath our units, ensuring minimal disruption to the natural ecosystem. We source timber directly from the woodland, reducing the need for transportation and ensuring a reliable, local supply chain. By utilising these sustainable methods, we not only minimize our environmental impact but also contribute to the preservation of natural resources and promote ecological balance within our projects.
